Years in the Queensland sun tend to leave a memory on your skin: sun spots, age spots, uneven tone, and that dull “layered” look. But those marks don’t have to stay. At Injex Clinics, we combine science, precision and skincare to help reverse sun damage, fade age spots and rebuild youthful clarity — without sacrificing safety or authenticity.
Let’s partner with your skin to undo what the sun has done, and keep it protected from here on out.
“Sun damage and age spots” is an umbrella term covering changes in skin caused by cumulative UV exposure, manifested as dark or brown patches, uneven pigmentation, freckles, solar lentigines (the classic “age spots”) and mottled texture. Over time, the sun accelerates uneven melanin distribution, weakens collagen, and leads to skin laxity, lines, roughness and pigment irregularities.
Age spots (also called solar lentigines or “liver spots”) are flat, brown or tan macules that appear on areas with repeated sun exposure typically face, hands, shoulders, forearms and upper chest.
They differ from freckles (which appear earlier and may fade in winter) and from melasma (which often shows blotchy patterns, not discrete spots).
While these skin changes are mostly cosmetic, sun damage is a sign that your skin’s protective barrier and DNA have been under stress meaning prevention and monitoring are essential.

Below are the in‑clinic treatments we offer at Injex Clinics to address sun damage and age spots. Each treatment is customised based on your skin type, pigmentation depth, sensitivities and goals.

Sun damage includes a broader range of skin changes (texture, laxity, lines, pigmentation), whereas age spots are a specific type of hyperpigmentation from UV exposure.
Rarely. They tend to deepen or multiply unless you intervene with treatments and maintain strict sun protection.
It depends on depth, number, skin type and treatment type. Typically 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart yield significant improvement.
There is no one-size-fits-all. The ideal treatment is determined by your specific spot depth, skin type, tolerance, downtime, and goals. Your consultation will guide this decision.
Yes. All treatments involving active products or equipment require a full consultation with one of our qualified team members.
Some have minimal downtime (IPL, carbon facial), others moderate (peels, laser) including redness, flaking, pigment darkening as part of the healing.
If done too aggressively or incorrectly (especially on darker skin), yes. That is why assessment, patch tests and conservative progression are critical.
It can. Without protection, new spots may develop. Maintenance sessions and strict sun care are vital.
It depends. For mild sessions, makeup may be resumed in 24 hours. After deeper resurfacing, you may need to wait until the skin crusts and recovers. Always follow your clinician’s aftercare.
Most laser and aggressive resurfacing treatments are avoided. We may offer safe alternatives such as gentle peels, LED and pigment-safe skincare instead.
Yes. Inflammation, sugar, certain supplements, hormonal imbalances and oxidative stress can influence pigmentation flare-ups.
It can help lighten very superficial pigment by exfoliation, but its effect is often minimal and temporary.
Many results last years, given ongoing protection and maintenance. But because sun exposure continues, periodic top-ups may be needed.
Yes. Avoid tanning, direct sun and self-tanners 2–4 weeks before your session to reduce risks and improve outcomes.
Under medical supervision, hydroquinone or similar agents may be used short-term for pigment suppression, but long-term use is restricted. We prefer safer, evidence-based actives in our protocols.
About 30 to 45 minutes. We will assess your skin, discuss medical history, explain options, and map out a plan.
Some superficial spots respond more fully; deeper or long-standing ones may fade significantly but not vanish completely. Our goal is marked improvement, not perfection.
Absolutely. Treated skin is more vulnerable to re-pigmentation. SPF, hats and avoidance of UV are non-negotiable for maintaining results.
Some treatments can be mildly uncomfortable. You may feel a warm, snapping or prickling sensation. We use numbing or cooling to ensure you’re comfortable.
Yes. They support oil regulation, pore size reduction and skin clarity when used as part of a customised treatment plan.
Costs vary by method, area and severity. In Brisbane, you might see sessions in the range of $99 (IPL, carbon facial), mid‑range peels, up to $499+ for laser resurfacing. (Subject to consultation)
We always perform or request a skin cancer check prior to cosmetic treatments. If a spot has irregular borders, evolving shape, multiple colours or bleeding, it needs dermatological assessment before proceeding.
