Nasolabial Folds

Nasolabial folds are creases that run from the sides of the nose down to the corners of the mouth. They naturally become more noticeable with age and are often visible when smiling or laughing.

At Injex Clinics, we provide non-surgical treatment options that may help soften the appearance of these folds. A comprehensive consultation is required to review your health, discuss your goals, and determine whether this treatment may be suitable for you.

.BEFORE & AFTER RESULTS

The consultation process

An initial consultation with our practitioners is required to gauge your suitability and ensure the treatment aligns with your needs.

  • Comprehensive skin assessment — We examine your facial structure, skin elasticity and the severity of your nasolabial folds to identify the best approach.
  • Medical history review — Our practitioners will ask about any existing health conditions, medications or allergies, as these may affect the treatment process and results.
  • Discussion of treatment goals — You’ll have the opportunity to share your concerns and desired outcomes so we have all the necessary information to create a personalised treatment plan for you.
  • Explanation of the process — We’ll thoroughly explain how the treatment works, its possible risks and realistic outcomes. We’ll also be happy to answer any additional questions you may have.

Keep in mind that individual responses to the treatment, including results, may vary depending on factors such as facial anatomy, metabolism, treatment type and lifestyle.

Factors that may affect your suitability for the treatment

Facial volume treatments are generally not recommended for those who:

  • Are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Are diagnosed with epilepsy, cancer, porphyria or enzyme disorders.
  • Have an autoimmune disorder that may affect healing or increase adverse side effects.
  • Are prone to keloid scarring, which may lead to complications.
  • Have known allergies to hyaluronic acid, latex or lidocaine.

If you’re not an eligible candidate for the treatment, we’ll do our best to recommend alternative options that better suit your concerns and needs.

All medical procedures carry risk. Outcomes vary between individuals, and no treatment can be guaranteed. This list is not a complete list of all potential risks & side effects and is meant as a guide only. Full treatment risks and side effects will be discussed in an in-person consultation.

Nasolabial folds treatments may lead to side effects, ranging from mild to more serious complications.

  • Pain, swelling or bruising at the treatment site
  • Tenderness or itching
  • Small lumps or bumps beneath the skin that typically subside on their own
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Reversible discolouration
  • Serious allergic reactions or infections
  • Vision loss

Our doctors will discuss these side effects with you during your consultation. If, after the treatment, you experience persistent inflammation or any symptoms lasting more than 48 hours, consult us or your general practitioner immediately.

What to do before and after a nasolabial lines treatment

Adhering to your practitioner’s pre- and post-care guidelines will help minimise the chances of bruising and irritation and ensure proper recovery. Here are some general instructions to keep in mind:

Before your treatment

  • Refrain from using blood-thinning medications and supplements such as aspirin, fish oil, vitamin E or other blood thinners at least two weeks before your appointment.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours before your session.
  • Schedule your treatment at least two weeks before any major event to allow time for any swelling or mild side effects to settle.

After the treatment

  • Let your skin heal by skipping makeup for the remainder of the day after your treatment.
  • Do not rub or massage the treated area for at least three days.
  • Refrain from intense physical activities that could lead to excessive sweating for 24 hours.
  • Keep away from extreme heat and cold, such as direct sunlight, UV light and saunas.
  • Manage swelling by applying a cold compress for 15 minutes each hour.
  • Do not apply cosmeceutical skincare products containing retinol, AHAs or vitamin C for at least a week.
  • Avoid air travel for two weeks following your treatment.

Arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment to allow time for paperwork and numbing cream application. To minimise the risk of infection, ensure your face is clean and makeup-free.
