Marionette Lines

Marionette lines (also known as melomental folds) are vertical creases that form from the corners of the mouth down toward the chin. These lines often develop naturally with age as collagen and elastin production decline, which can contribute to the appearance of a downturned mouth even when the face is at rest.

At Injex Clinics, we provide non-surgical treatment options that may help soften the look of these lines and support volume in the lower face.

A comprehensive consultation is required to assess your health, review treatment suitability, and discuss what outcomes may be realistic for you.

All medical procedures carry risk. Outcomes vary between individuals, and no treatment can be guaranteed. This list is not a complete list of all potential risks & side effects and is meant as a guide only. Full treatment risks and side effects will be discussed in an in-person consultation.

Following treatment, some individuals may experience mild and temporary reactions, including:

  • Pain, swelling, bruising or numbness at the treated area.
  • Tenderness or itching.
  • Small lumps or bumps beneath the skin, which will gradually resolve on its own.

Although rare, more serious complications such as vision loss, allergic reactions and infections can occur. In case of unusual or prolonged symptoms, reach out to us or your general practitioner right away for medical assistance.

Pre- and post-treatment care

Following the proper care instructions before and after your facial volume treatment can help minimise the occurrence of side effects, ensure adequate healing and support the best possible long-term outcome. Below are important guidelines:

Before your appointment

  • Do not use blood-thinning medications and supplements such as aspirin, fish oil or vitamin E at least two weeks before your session to minimise bruising.
  • Arrive with a clean, makeup-free face to minimise the risk of infection.
  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Schedule your appointment at least two weeks before any major events to allow time for healing.

After your treatment

  • Do not apply makeup for the rest of the day.
  • Do not use cosmeceutical skincare with active ingredients such as AHAs, retinol or vitamin C for at least a week.
  • Refrain from intense physical activity or strenuous exercise for 24 hours.
  • Use a cold compress for 15 minutes each hour to help reduce swelling if needed.
  • Avoid exposure to extreme temperatures, both hot and cold, including direct sun exposure, UV light and saunas.
  • Avoid massaging or applying pressure to the treated area for a day after treatment.
  • Refrain from international travel for two weeks after the treatment.

Please note that results from the treatment may vary for each individual, depending on factors such as facial anatomy, metabolism, treatment type and lifestyle.
