It’s completely normal to experience mild redness, slight swelling, or a small scab forming at the treatment site. This is your skin’s natural healing response and typically resolves within a few days to two weeks depending on the removal method used.
Gently cleanse the treated area with mild soap and water once or twice daily. Pat dry with a clean towel. Do not rub or scrub the area. Avoid submerging the area in water, including baths, pools, spas, or the ocean, until fully healed.
Your clinician will recommend Stratacel Gel to support healing. Apply a thin layer to the treated area twice daily after cleansing. It forms a protective barrier, reduces redness and discomfort, and supports skin repair. Continue use until the site is fully healed.
Allow any crust or scab to fall away naturally. Picking or scratching can reopen the wound, increase irritation, and may increase the risk of scarring.
Wear loose, breathable clothing over the treatment area for at least 48 to 72 hours. Avoid jewellery, collars, bra straps, or anything that may rub the site.
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, spas, and vigorous exercise for 24 to 48 hours after treatment. Excess heat and sweat can irritate the healing skin and increase sensitivity.
Keep the treated area out of direct sunlight during healing. Once the skin has closed over, apply SPF daily. Sun exposure on healing skin may contribute to post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Do not apply retinols, AHAs, BHAs, exfoliants, perfumed lotions, deodorants, or makeup directly on the treated area until fully healed.

These symptoms may indicate irritation or infection and should be assessed promptly.
Removed skin tags generally do not return in the same location, however new skin tags can develop over time. Keeping the skin clean and dry, wearing breathable fabrics, and reducing friction in areas such as the neck, underarms, and chest may help minimise recurrence.
