Anti Wrinkle Injections are a prescribed product used to weaken or relax muscles that contribute to fine lines, wrinkles and unwanted facial expressions. It is also used in several medical conditions such as excessive sweating, jaw clenching, chronic muscle tension headaches, belpharospasm and many others.
It takes 3-5 days before the effects begin to show and usually last 3-5 months but this period can be shorter or longer, after which time, further treatment is appropriate to sustain this effect. To see the kind of results anti-wrinkle treatment can achieve, take a look at our anti-wrinkle before and after gallery.
It is essential to follow both your before care and post treatment instructions to minimise the risk of an adverse reaction.
Please note, we provide complimentary follow-up appointments 2 weeks post treatment, however if additional product is required, this will incur a $20 fee.
As anti-wrinkle product is administered as an injection, it may result in minimal bleeding, temporary bruising, redness and swelling in the area. In very rare cases the product can cause temporary drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow which can last between 3-6 weeks.

Results typically begin to appear within 3 to 5 days after treatment. Full results are usually visible by the 2-week mark, which is why we schedule your complimentary follow-up appointment at that time. If you feel the result isn’t quite right at your follow-up, your clinician can assess and adjust accordingly.
Anti-wrinkle results typically last 3 to 5 months, though this varies between individuals depending on factors such as metabolism, muscle strength, and the area treated. When results fade, further treatment is appropriate to maintain the effect. Your clinician can recommend an ideal treatment schedule at your follow-up.
Lying down in the hours immediately after treatment can cause the product to migrate away from the treated area. Staying upright for at least 4 hours allows the product to settle correctly in the targeted muscles. The same applies to bending forward — try to keep your head above your heart during this period.
Please avoid applying makeup or skincare products to the treated area for at least 12 hours post-treatment. The injection sites are small entry points into the skin, and applying products too soon increases the risk of infection. After 12 hours, you may resume your normal skincare and makeup routine unless otherwise advised.
Both alcohol and strenuous exercise increase blood flow and thin the blood, which raises the risk of bruising at the injection sites. We recommend avoiding both for 24 hours after your treatment to allow initial settling and minimise bruising. Light activity such as gentle walking is generally fine.
Facial treatments such as chemical peels, skin needling, and laser should be avoided for 2 weeks following anti-wrinkle injections. This allows the product to fully settle into the muscle before any additional skin treatments are performed. Booking treatments too close together can interfere with your results.
If you experience any adverse reactions or side effects, contact the clinic that performed your treatment as soon as possible. Do not wait. For out-of-hours emergencies, call or text our emergency line on 0415 049 506. Common mild side effects such as minor bruising or slight swelling at the injection site are normal and typically resolve within a few days.
Your complimentary 2-week follow-up allows your clinician to assess the results of your treatment and make any necessary adjustments. By this point, the product has fully settled and your clinician can accurately evaluate the outcome. If additional product is required at this appointment, a $20 fee applies.
Should you have any further questions regarding your treatment, please don’t hesitate to contact us on 0415 049 506 or reach out to the clinic that performed your treatment directly.
